Poo-Poo
I have a little poo question for all you bandsters. What do you do to get enough Fiber in your diet? I can't eat fibrous fruits and veggies so I am having some issues in the bathroom department. :(
I put Fiber1 into pretty much everything I drink- coffee, Crystal Light (actually the generic stuff from Target), protein shakes, etc. It has worked well for me so far. :)
I usually get enough to be regular (well regularish), but if I'm having troubles, I use a little Mirolax. Althought you might try Fiber One like kagead suggested. My mom does that religiously. She has one every night and calls it her cocktail. :)
I put fiber One original bran cereal in my greek yogurt every morning. It's low calorie and extremely high fiber. Yum! Not everyone can handle bread... but I will eat Thomas' english muffin multi-grain with added fiber. For one, it's 110 and 8 grams of fiber... sometimes I eat a 1/2 and sometimes I can eat the whole thing with tuna or chicken salad. I also eat atkins' daybreak protein/fiber bars for a snack sometimes I love the apple crisp ones and the chocolate oatmeal fiber bars.
I have been eating 2 fiber gummies a day. My dietician said I shouldn't take gummy vitamins/supplements because they can get stuck, but I've had no problems and a chew a lot.
Everyday I eat a mixture of powdered vitamins, powdered calcium - both of which have a bit of a Tang flavor, benefiber which you can't taste at all, and strawberry kiwi protein powder (Nector brand) in water. It's 100 calories, 24g of protein and all the vitamins and fiber I need for the day. I drink it either after I get off the treadmill in the morning (if I've been a good girl) or on my way to work. It's quick, easy, and yummy! (and no more bathroom problems)
I used to hit the Miralax a lot, but a few months ago I started eating 1 or 2 tbsp of ground flax seed every day (usually mixed in fruit or sprinkled on salad or veggies), and I haven't had an issue since.

ReplyDeleteI either use Miralax or ground Psyllium Husks and plenty of water. If you need something quick you might want to get a suppository.
ReplyDeleteI've found that I'm ok as long as I drink enough water. Popcorn helps too!

I use Benefiber clear, tasteless fiber powder, I put it in milk or my cofee, I can't taste it at all.
ReplyDeleteFiber chews are just like gummy bears. Yummy!
ReplyDeleteUm. I'm an idiot. I meant Benefiber, like Theresa said. Not Fiber1, which is a cereal, I believe... Of course, that would probably help, too! :)
ReplyDeleteI use sennakot pills if I'm having trouble.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you asked because I've been having issues, too! :(

ReplyDeleteI put 2tsp of either Metamucil or Benefiber in my breakfast smoothie. It's not A LOT of fiber, but seems to be just enough to keep me going.
