HRM

I am thinking about getting a HRM. I want one that will tell me exactly how many cals I have burned for the day too. I don't want to spend a lot of $$$. I did see a Timex HRM that monitors calories for approx $60. Any thoughts, advice, words of wisdom?

  1. I have a Polar F6 that I think was around 100 give or take. I love it. It only monitors when I have it on and I only put it on for exercise. The all day monitors that I know of are very expensive, like the Body Bugg. It does stuff that I know I wouldnt utilize. Hooks up to computer and does a lot. I love my Polar because its accurate and gives me calories burned during a specific exercise period.

  2. yeah...that's the cheapest I have seen and it was at Walmart. I didn't even want to spend that much! haha I bought one that looks like a pedometer and you clip it on your pants and it tells you how many steps and how many calories and it has a pulse reader on the side of it. You just put your finger over the little window and it reads your pulse/HR. It's pretty nifty and I think it was like $20 at Walmart.

  3. I have the Body Bugg like Jacquie mentioned. It was very expensive. It was my reward to myself when I hit the 50 pound mark, I think. It was so worth it to me because it was the one thing that FINALLY got me to start consistently logging food. That made the ridiculous cost worth it to me. The thing I hate, is then the website costs $ to use. I believe there is one our there similar the Bugg that doesn't have that added cost.

    Good luck!!

  4. Make sure you get one that allows you to program your weight, sex and height, otherwise it can't/won't give you an accurate calorie burn total. I bought one at Wal Mart on the cheap ad didn't realize it wasn't fully programable, so it was pretty much useless. Sometimes it pays to spend a little more.

  6. I think you can find ones that calculate them on the internet though I don't know what an HRM is?
